I was driving my ah ma for checkup at Eye Centre, halfway through, she said (everything in teochew):

Ah Ma: "That girl from that time is your gf?"

Me: "Nope, we are very good friends."

Ah Ma: "I've seen her since she was so small..."

Me: "Uh hur."

Ah Ma: "You only have been thinking about earning lwee and nothing else right?"

We then had a conversation about working first before marrying.

Ah Ma: "But i want to see you get married before i die. That will be the best, really. I long for that day."

Me: "But...i'm busy now. I'm studying and lots of projects and work."

Ah Ma: "but after marrying can earn money still what."

Me: (Silence)

Ah Ma: "I like that girl. She's pretty and i've seen her since she was so small."

Me: "We are just friends."

Ah Ma: "Slowly proceed loh, just say 'i want you.' It will work. You are good."

Me: "Maybe maybe..maybe some day i will realise that she's the one for me."

Ah Ma: "I hope at least you can bring a girlfriend for new year.......just to let me see. I will be happy....."

Me: "Orh."

Ah Ma: "If possible, i will like to see your marriage. Really. I will be....really happy."


See, that's the thing about my grandma. Apart from her kids, all grown up, the only other thing she can look forwardd to is......my marriage. The special reason was that, i'm the only grandchildren that she looked after. I essentially spent my childhood with her.

Maybe it's really a wake up call. I need, i should find a girlfriend. Work and project can wait. Hmm...maybe.

And i dreamt for her for 3 consecutive days. Can you believe it. Maybe it's really fate. All these happenings.

I went out with my friend's family for dinner and supper. A simple dinner at astons. Shopped at John Little at Marina to buy household stuffs for her sister and in-law new house. Then a nice dinner at keppel. A leisure stroll around the bay island.

Perfect experience. An experience that i don't think i could find in my family.

I actually enjoyed going out with her family.

I'm happy.
