today Mangrove Cleanup for the guides...
Must mention that the guides were looking for our dearest Ms Lim Hui Min who rather be a pig and abandon us to the boring mangrove...
Brought 18guides and 3 scouts to Kranji Mangrove, with a guide known as Khalid, he talked cock about snakes to the guides and amused / frightened them before they even enter the mangrove, cute lah, but he wasted quite abit of time for the cleanup...We collected around 40kg of trash in 1.5hrs...

The guides bullied me!
They made me carry trash bags for them...
They made me push them from the mangrove entrance all the way to visitor centre, and they thought they very light like that, so heavy loh, 9 of them on a trolley, then i push with Wen chong (scout)..
Imagine, let's take for example Ms Lim Hui Min weight, i presume is 50kg, and nine of them made up 50 X 9 = 450kg...
See, so heavy~! Or in another words, i strong!

Then, that Ms Chan also very guai lan, she took around 70photos with my camara, take those wu orh bo eh (got or don't have)...use up my memory card...But quite nice lah, she want me burn photos on CD for her somemore! See, not only guides bully me, even teacher also bully me...
But she quite nice lah, she told me STORIES, told me about her undergraduate days, and what she did, and stuffs, then said she's going Harbourfront play Beach Games later, so jiao...But, she told me STORIES, yay!!! it's been two weeks or more, since that SOMEONE told me any stories!!! So long never hear story liao, craving for one...

I went to Raffles Museum of BR again today for Museum training, met an undergrad by the name of dunno-what and 4 other SAJC J2 Environmental Green Club peeps, i can't remember any of their names except for the particular only girl known as Cheryl. Not bad, above average girl ba...Oops, talked about girls again...

Our wonderful lecturer Shimin briefed us about the systematics and taxonomy and stuffs, and we did a bai chi drawing on the museum itself...Pair work, luckily i tio Wei Song, he too pro liao, he knew the museum inside out...Si eh gey yan, our drawings rocks man, not only we all included the features, we also included the number of doors and counters. He rocks man...He pang seh me alone afterwards to describe the museum myself, then i ga bra, and said Leathery Turtle found in Bukit Timah..Malu like hell, the SAJC peeps were laughing at me...
Before that, i believed that they were too impressed by my knowledge of taxonomy...

Then, Siva came, gave a talk on Guiding Techniques, how to approach the crowd or handle troublesome people like Ms Lim Hui Min who might suddenly call you 'xiong mao' when you are giving a lecture...if theese people happened to come to the museum lah...

I thought he forgot about me being a guide before in SBWR in December last year, then he pointed out that Wei Song was a guide before in NUS Open House..So he should be supposingly good...
But he rocks man...He stumbled on the welcome speech itself..And our trainer Shimin, she too stumbled too...The SAJC girl rocks too, she covered the whole of the welcome sppeech in one sentence, one breath, and we laughed like hell after she finished breathless; well, everyone got problem lah...Siva just wanted us to make a fool out of ourselves, and to emphasise that a script is very important...
Then, after malu-ing ourselves infront of everyone else, he told the class that i was a guide once too...make me more malu loh...

Tomorrow there would be a Briskwalk, i'm thinking whether should i go for it...Siva and Chen Kee and Wei Song asked me to go, but my whole body ached man, coz' so many people bully me in the mangrove and the traveling these few days to and fro NUS wore me down..
But nice lah, NUS lots of chio bu...

Life is getting fun...Holiday lai le...Was involved in quite abit of activities these few days...

Went for International Coastal Cleanup Singapore on Friday, immediately after the sucky camp i had in college...It just sucks, totally sucks, can't be compared to both of the camps i had in NACLI..Their games ain't game enough, facilitators ain't facilitating enough, organisers ain't organised enough, debrief are brief but useless...My class wasn't bonded anyway, and the organisers were just scolding us for don't-know-what-the-hell reason, or the reason so minor that isn't worthwhile bringing down our spirit...HOnestly, i learnt nothing out of the damn camp...

Never mind, will just talk about the ICCS meeting...The camp ended at 5.35pm and i rushed all the way to Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research where the meeting would start at 7pm...I wasn't late though...I ran out of camp before it officially ended. =) I rulez man! I escaped loh...

I saw Yueat Tin! Still prefer the long-haired Yueat Tin, but still okay ba...Been two years since i last seen her; long time compared to Yen Ling (Met her last year in Sungei Buloh Guiding) and MeiSi (A year ago)...Sadly, Yen Ling and Mei Si are working, won't get to see them in Toddycats liao...Yueat Tin, i believe is still jobless...quite free...

The meeting was for the coordinators of ICCS this year, Chen Kee and Wei Song were there ( My Museum-mates), Airani, Angeline, Siva of course, Oi Yee, and a new guy known as Tinh-ky...
Considered myself dead-meat, Siva was talking about the big moth. In the past couple of weeks, several people have reported seeing a large, white-striped variably dark-brown to brownish-grey large, nocturnal moth in their homes and offices...
He posted what i said to him during our casual talk.

"Another museum volunteer Cheong Wei Siong (Bishan/Lorong Chuan sightings) reported, somewhat sadly, that junior college boys had also been seen running away screaming in terror at the sight of these moths. More significantly, he reported that his parents associate the moth with the spirits of their ancestors coming to bid farewell especially during the Hungry Ghost Festival (the Chinese lunar calendar's 7th month) which usually falls in August (though sometimes in September). The ghostly month coincides with the tail end of Lyssa zampa's annual emergence which probably remphasises the belief each year."

Life is getting better..
At least for the next month for it being June, a nice sweet girl's name, and of course, my HOLIDAY!!

Next week would be the mangrove cleanup...And i will be bringing 25guides to clean the mangrove, Ms LIM HUIMIN wants to see whether her mood on that day good not, or else she don't want to help me with the guides...See this kind of girl, so unhelpful, a known baddie!

Went NUS yesterday for some museum guide training...Shimin is the best lecturer, she purposely wrote the dismissal time as 5, but her programme ends at 4.30, just to have that 'high' feeling of being able to end early...

I learnt about Raffles and his destroyed exhibits / natural collections there, and was given a brief introductory to the museum...SAJC peeps were not around...No chio bu to see; sad.

In the bus, NUS people stared at me, mainly coz' they are all in pairs and i'm alone...Don't know, donn't dare anyhow look also...quite sad lah, i mean everyone in a pair, and me alone with my red bag, watching 'just for gigs' on TV mobile, while those couples whispers among themselves...

Sad scene, sky seemed to sympathise me with rain, ah pek shelter me all the way home, i tell ah pek don't need and walk fast fast...Ah pek tried to follow, but he too slow, so i said 'thanks' and go...

Ah pek is helpful, even though hs legs got problems...not like some monkeys...

A Tsimshian Legend

This tale is of Native American folklore. It is a story told by the
Tsimshian tribe. The title is The Theft of Light.
Giant flew eastward and inland. He continued his flight over the
land for a long time. Fianlly became tired and decided to go over the
sea. Giant had a little round stone which his father had given to him. He
dropped it into the sea and became a very large rock.
Giant lay down to rest on it. He took off the raven skin that he had
been wearing.
During that time the world was always dark. Daylight did not yet exist.
Giant put on his raven skin and flew again toward the east. He arrived
at the mainland and came to the mouth of the Skeena River. He stopped
there and scattered the salmon and trout roe. Giant then said, " Let
every river and creek have all kinds of fish."
However, the world was still dark. The people would get a little
light from the stars when the sky was clear. But when it was cloudy, only
darkness was overhead. Giant realized that the state of total darkness
was an inconvenience for him. It would make it hard for him to find his
food. He had come from heaven and knew that it had light. So he decided
to bring light into the world.
The next day Giant put on his raven robe. His father, who was the
chief, had given it to him as a gift. Giant soared upward and found a
hole in the sky. He flew through it and reached the interior of the sky.
Then he took off the raven skin garment and placed it next to the
opening in the sky. Giant went for some distance and came to a spring. It
was near the home of the chief of heaven. Giant sat and waited for a
while.
The chief's daughter came out of the house. She was carrying a
small bucket and intended to get some water. Giant saw her approaching. He
changed into a cedar leaf and floated on the water. The chief's
daughter obtained some water and drank it, swallowing the leaf in the process.
Soon she became pregnant and long long after that, gave birth to a
boy. The chief and his wife were very happy. The gave the boy baths on
a daily basis. He started growing up and began to creep around. They
continued to bathe him and the chief cleaned the floor of the house. The
child became strong and crept around even more.
Then he began crying, "Hama, Hama!" He was crying all the time and
the chief worried about it. He asked the slaves to carry the boy. They
carried him around, but he went for several nights without sleeping. He
continued to cry, "Hama! Hama!"
The chief invited several wise men who were his advisors and said
he did not know what the problem was. The boy wanted the box that was
hanging in the chief's house.
The box hung in one corner and contained daylight. It was called maa.
Giant had known about it for a long time. The child kept on crying for
it.The chief was very irritated. His wise men listened and said that
they did not know what the child wanted.
But one of the advisors was more perceptive than the others. He
said that the boy wanted the maa. The chief ordered that the box be taken
down and handed to the boy, so he could play with it. The boy rolled
the box around for several days. The chief thought nothing of it.
Then the child took the box and ran out the door. Someone yelled,
"Giant is running off with the maa!"
Several people of heaven pursued Giant, but he outran them. He
reached the hole in the sky and put on the raven skin. Giant quickly flew
down to earth.
The world was still dark. Giant arrived at the mouth of the Nass river.
He continued on and went up the river. Some people were in their
canoes. They were using bag nets to catch olachen.
The people were making a lot of noise. Giant said, "Throw me one of
those bags."
Then he said it again and they scolded him. They said, "Where did you
come from, great liar, whom they call Txamsen?"
However, the people (They were the animal people) knew it was
Giant. They continued to make fun of him. He repeated his request four
times, saying that if he did not receive one of the bags, he would break the
maa. The fishermen were the frog people. Giant finally broke the maa
and daylight appeared all over the place. The north wind started blowing
hard. It drove the frogs away and the ones who had ridiculed giant were
carried down the river. Those frogs came to a huge mountainous island.
They tried to climb the rock, but the north wind caused them to stick
to it. The frogs were transformed into stone and are there to this day.
Now the world had daylight.

Yes, blog! Today went to toa Payoh sports complex to witness two 'interesting matches'...yes, it's the finals i reckon...Who cares about the match, won't talk about it..

But the good thing was that, i saw shiqi aka seekee and shumei. Frankly, i miss them man, they are people who allow me to suan like hell and won't get bored with me telling them 'wu xia xiao shuo" and other stories...They rocks...

Perhaps i went to the stadium coz of them...I wanted to 'zao4' after the girls' match, so i asked shiqi help me go take my bag and file from my seat while i waited for her outside...

But okay, she was dumb, she couldn't find my bag..or rather i did not give her the right directions...But never mind, she still dumb, very dumb...make me spent 1.5 miserable hours in air-coned 'sauna'...

Walked them, with their friends, (all apparently not-so-happy to wait for dumb shiqi to help me pick my bag as it took a long time) to Toa Payoh interchange, then went back to the sports complex to enjoy the dumb game...

Hate to bade farewell, can see shumei can't bear to see me leave (wahahahaha)...shiqi gave me a wink...

If only they stayed closer to the central...meeting up would be easy...

Arghh, miss them le, miss her sweet voice, miss her sweet smile, miss her sarcasm, miss them paying full attention to my bai chi stories, miss the good old days...

Reasons for not blogging...

|

Yes, i agree i need to blog..at least blog about something..

I celebrated my Ah ma birthday last Saturday...my ah ma is a buddhist, and so being so devout, she's a vegetarian. But for god-knows-what reason, we (including relatives) went to a restaurant that was not vegetarian...

We had a 8 course lunch, and my poor grandma could only feast on 2dishes, mainly the vegetables and desserts. Ahh, i must not forget that she can eat some peanuts that is always served before any food arrives, and there was also cabbage and other decorations made up of vegetables / vegetarian stuffs that she could eat...And i guess, that's all for my grandma for lunch on her 81st Birthday.

I was sitted on her table, which accomodate 10 people. my family arrived early, so we finished the peanuts, no more for grandma. And we had one waiter, i presume she was about as old as my grandma, and she pulled a sulky face all the while...(nice waiter, eat more...not so nice waiter, difficult to eat as much), so my grandma ate very little..

Ahh, there was Tea, she didn't drink much either. Yes, we enjoyed ourselves with shark's fin and crispy chicken, i forgot the rest of the dishes (Not up to standard though)...

Mom always claims that they love to see their children eat and enjoy their meal, and perhaps it is this particular peculiar reason that my mother or my uncle or my auntie hold such an interesting lunch...
